Always be moving forward
We can only move forward in all things. We can’t travel backwards in time, even if our paths turn left or right. However, once we turn that corner, we move forwards. Even though our lives seem to be stagnant, we still move forward in both our time and our purpose. It’s only at that moment. Our purpose calls for us to take a break.
“And te tide and te time that tu iboren were, schal beon iblescet.”
– St. Marher, 1225
This is the oldest known version of the famous quote “Time waits no man.” This is a common quote we only lip service to. It’s true, if you really think about it. Regardless of human actions, intentional or not, time progresses at the same rate as ever before. And so, our purpose.
Our instinct as leaders and entrepreneurs is to move forward first and go where only angels or mountain goats can. Often, we find that slowing down or standing still is too boring or foreign to us. This is because our core belief is to move forward, seek new challenges and develop new ideas. Although people may find our focus to be fleeting and forgetful, it is more because we process our ideas so quickly that it has already grown in our heads. Before everything else can catch up, we’ve made those first steps in our minds.
Take a minute to do two things this week:
You must make sure that you are focusing on the future in order to continue adding new products and services. Quality and the lessons learned from previous products are not to be overlooked. You must have patience and the ability to evaluate a product before you move on to a new idea. This allows us to see what works, what’s not, and what people like.
Second, don’t dwell on past mistakes and make them your mantra. Sometimes things can be improved. Sometimes things need to be tweaked. Keep your spirits up and keep learning from the past.
A business’s success is determined by the combination of these two factors.
